EL PROBLEMA DE LOS VALORES O EL VALOR COMO PROBLEMA

Final de la película Melancolía Un post de una página de libros sólo puede ofrecer espacio para plantear un problema como este, para el que por otro lado, no tengo solución ni veo que otros la encuentren. Pero creo que por lo menos hay que plantearlo simplemente para tener cierto respeto a una cuestión fundamental.

Lo que se llama valor es algo que se ha perdido. Un valor es algo que no tenemos y que deseamos o que nos parece benéfico en la forma que sea. Colocar la generosidad, la honestidad, la humildad, el amor y un largo etcétera como ideal, es decir como algo que no existe, sino que se quiere alcanzar, si se piensa, puede resultar terrorífico.

Una vez escuché a un sacerdote decir: cuidado con querer ser buenos y hacer el bien porque eso llevaba a grandes oscuridades y a mí me pareció la base del problema actual en todos los ámbitos, no sólo el religioso. Los valores, sean los que sean, están metidos en todos los ámbitos, organizan nuestra existencia y la convierten en una especie de cumplimiento gris y absurdo en el que lo último que existe es lo que representa el valor. Es decir, el valor es algo externo que se asume y se acepta mentalmente, pero que nunca llega a encarnarse y como tal acción externa está llena de peligros, todos los que tienen que ver con la ideología, con necesidad de crear un mundo, como si no hubiera ya uno.

El acto «bueno», el que produce un beneficio claro y evidente es un acto natural que no tiene nada que ver con la obediencia a un ideal o con el cumplimiento de un valor. Inculcar valores, en el sentido literal: infundir con firmeza en el ánimo de alguien una idea o sentimiento, sirve para establecer ideales y alejar toda posibilidad vital. Y ese es el gran problema: ¿cómo hacernos buenos para nosotros y para los otros de manera natural, es decir, sin miedo a efectos secundarios oscuros?

Se me ocurre simplemente contarnos de verdad nuestra situación, la situación compartida. El otro día vi un anuncio de supermercado, que buscaba encender sentimentalmente, en el que unas señoras mayores en la peluquería restaban importancia a la crisis porque se daban cuenta de que viajamos en el espacio rodeados de meteoritos y basura espacial que en cualquier momento pueden aniquilarnos.Esa idea de todos sobreviviendo en un pequeño planeta en la inmensidad de un universo lleno de peligros producía una auténtica catarsis fraternal. El reconocimiento de un hecho de este tipo en un espacio como el de una peluquería, donde todas las señoras compartían su lado «no visible», nos lleva directamente a la humildad sin pasar por complicados tratados o prácticas autoflagelantes para dominar nuestro ego, por ejemplo. Dirían esas señoras que hacían el papel de guardianas de la tradición y el sentido común: «Es una verdad que convence».

También es una verdad que convence que solos no podemos sobrevivir y que los otros saben cosas que no sabemos y que además tienen la capacidad de querernos y que los otros son tan diferentes que me pueden dar algo que yo nunca tendré. ¿Y si fuéramos conscientes de esto, de la singularidad real? ¿No cambiaría nuestra forma de relacionarnos hacia escuchar, ayudar en el desarrollo de otro, es más, ayudar al otro en el desarrollo de su singularidad para poder ver lo que yo no tengo ni soy? Todas razones «egoístas», al margen del ideal.

Y así, podríamos seguir hasta miles de verdades que convencen fruto de una experiencia compartida que nos llevarían a un cambio de paradigma, a una vida actual y no ideal en la que dejarían de existir los valores porque estaríamos en el campo de la acción, la que es fruto de un encuentro para el que se necesita la atención real y no el prejuicio, la necesidad propia y la admiración ajena. En definitiva, se trataría de convencernos de que estamos compartiendo planeta y situación delicada más que realizándonos a nosotros mismos.

El alejamiento de la naturaleza, de nosotros mismos en definitiva, nos lleva a vidas ideales que no tienen nada que ver con buenas vidas o bonitas vidas, simplemente con vidas no reales. Pienso que abandonar el ideal es fundamental para llegar a una vida real, con más sentido, basada en la observación y la experiencia y la necesidad de confianza, pero el miedo a abandonar el ideal es tal que puede llevar a la violencia, es más fácil matar por ideas que dar vida por ellas.

Y de todo esto trata el gran tema que mantiene en jaque ahora mismo a la filosofía: la comunidad como salvación. ¿Qué es la comunidad? ¿También va a ser tomada como ideal? Porque la comunidad parece más bien que es algo que aparece, que surge, no que se crea y precisamente surge en el momento en el que no nos separan las ideas o nos unen virtualmente.
